Thank you for your interest in Crisis Call Center. Crisis Call Center has been providing life saving services for individuals throughout Nevada for over 45 years. Our mission is "To compassionately help people in crisis make healthy choices for a happier future". This is what you can make happen with a grant of $1,000 to $10,000. As of March 2011, our current Funding Priorities are: 1.Text Today -In our efforts to continually improve services for all Nevadans, Crisis Call Center is excited to now offer our 24-hour crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to underserved populations through the use of text messaging. Over the last year, this service has shown remarkable results and, in many ways, mirrors current trends in increased text usage among individuals in all age groups. It has proven especially effective in reaching under-served youth in Nevada. Crisis Call Center is proud to be the first crisis center in the nation to provide 24/7 crisis intervention services through the use of this new technology. 2. Direct Victim Advocacy -Crisis Call Center's Sexual Assault Support Services program has provided immediate face-to-face advocacy and intervention services for adolescent and adult victims of sexual assault since 1979. We are currently expanding our services to address child victims of sexual abuse who receive examinations through the Washoe County CARES program (Child Abuse Response and Evaluations). Advocates will provide information and assistance to families needing access to available resources in Washoe County and neighboring rural communities. 3. General Operating Expenses - We are currently faced with state budget cuts, economy induced funding and donation reductions. At a time when the need for our services is steadily increasing, we are faced with reducing staffing levels. In order to continue providing services for individuals throughout our community and our state, the Center must raise over $100,000 annually above our grant funding to support our programs and services. Call Kathy Jacobs, Executive Director or Linda Septien, Deputy Director at 775.784.8085 to talk about these exciting grant opportunities. To make a grant from your Community Foundation Donor Advised Fund, call Tracy Turner at 775-333-5499 or go to www.nevadafund.org.
